Entrepreneurs’ Manifesto

AlertThe impact of AI

A tsunami that is already here.

You are already starting to see the positive and negative impact of artificial intelligence: a tsunami that is creating an unprecedented social and economic crisis.

And the paradox:

there is only one solution: AI itself.

Programmers of different styles leave the storm behind and walk together through Madrid’s Plaza Mayor towards the sunrise.

What is bearing down on us

40%

of jobs worldwide are exposed to artificial intelligence.

60%

in advanced economies, Europe among them.

International Monetary Fund, January 2024.

The IMF has said it clearly.

40% of jobs worldwide are exposed to artificial intelligence, and in advanced economies, such as those of Europe, almost 60%.

Exposure does not yet mean disappearance, but the warning is serious. Entire professions are going to change radically or disappear, and millions of people will be left on the sidelines if nobody does anything.

We are not talking about decades: it is happening now.

And in Spain

An unprecedented impact: economic, social and political.

6.9 million

jobs in Spain would be harmed in the IMF’s worst-case scenario: half of the 60% exposed to AI in advanced economies.

Sources and calculation method

Fundación Civitana estimate based on the IMF (January 2024) and the INE Labour Force Survey (EPA, third quarter of 2026). Sources: Fedea and BBVA Research, Quarterly Labour Market Observatory (October 2026); Funcas, «Inteligencia artificial y mercado de trabajo en España» (June 2026).

13.7 million
of the 22.9 million people in employment in Spain work in jobs exposed to AI, applying the IMF figure.
12.3 million
already hold jobs with high or medium-high exposure to generative AI, according to Fedea and BBVA Research.
2 million
jobs that AI could destroy in Spain by 2035, mainly administrative and technical roles, according to Funcas.
